VERNON, Los Angeles County — The City of Vernon highlights its CommUNITY Fund as an avenue through which nonprofit organizations and students have received funding connected to the Vernon area.
The city homepage says the fund has awarded a combined $5 million in nonprofit grants and student scholarships over its life. Program documents explain that the grant committee evaluates projects based on benefits for people who live or work in Vernon and surrounding communities. Historical categories have included direct-service programs and long-term capital improvements.
Eligibility is not automatic
The city’s headline total is cumulative, not a current allocation of $5 million available to applicants. A historical grant category or award ceiling also does not mean a new application round is open in November 2026. Community groups should verify the latest program rules, deadline, available budget, tax status and service-area requirements before preparing an application.
Grantseekers can start at the city’s official homepage and follow the CommUNITY Fund resources or contact City Administration at 323-583-8811. Applicants should be prepared to explain a measurable benefit to Vernon-area residents, businesses or workers.
